Compassion

Extending mercy and compassion is a central aspect of our focus of serving everyone at New Hope Church. Compassionate Ministry is an extension of God's grace to those both within and outside of our community of faith. We fulfill this call of Jesus by faithfully responding to the opportunities to serve in Jesus name that He presents us in our daily lives.

It is our desire to be a blessing to others who need assistance with rent, food, school supplies, clothing, utilities, prayer, etc. We direct those seeking relief from helplessness to available resources, and empower them with hope to deal with the difficulties they face.

Compassion Activities

Our outreach activities include:

  • Kansas City Rescue Mission: We support the rescue mission through volunteer service, financial assistance and other means of support. For more information about KCRM, visit KCRM.org . Once on the KCRM site, look for Community Resources to find reliable sources for immediate relief and assistance.
  • White Oak Nursing Home: We offer a monthly worship service for residents at one of our area nursing homes. To participate in this ministry, contact Ben Scholl at 816-812-7746.
  • Crestview & Briarcliff Elementary Schools: We partner with, and support our neighborhood elementary schools.
  • Northland Food Pantry: Please bring non-perishable food and personal care items for those in our community who are struggling.
  • Compassion Ministries International/Sponsor a Child: We regularly encourage those within our church to adopt and support children in third-world countries.
  • Crisis Care Kits: We regularly send care kits to disaster areas.
  • Operation Christmas Child: Every fall we assemble care packages for children.
  • Acts of Service: Our LifeGroups are regularly involved in acts of service for others. We encourage you to join a LifeGroup and practice being the hands of Jesus to those in need. For more information, contact our LifeGroups Team Leader, Scott Pearson. Ideas for your group include: helping seniors with things they need done around the house, providing transportation for those who need a ride to church, or assisting people who are moving. We also have opportunities within our church, including helping with the maintenance of our building and grounds, as well as the Spiritual Care Team Ministry.

For those needing assistance, we have partnered with other organizations in our community and encourage people needing assistance to call the United Services Assistance Line. This community outreach line can be reached 24 hours a day by merely dialing 2-1-1 on any land-line telephone. If you are limited to a cell phone, you must use the direct line for cellular service which is: 816-474-5112.

The Assistance Line is a valuable outreach tool providing a community assistance resource in twenty different categories. These categories include: rent and utility assistance, food pantries, medical and mental health services. They also have the means to address many other needs. When you call, services, agencies and outreaches will be offered to you in the proximity of your zip code.
