Samuel was born in Lima, Peru and was an MK (missionary kid), living in Bolivia and Chile before his family came to the US in 1990. He studied biology at the University of Michigan before being called to the ministry, at which point he attended and graduated from Nazarene Theological Seminary.

Lisa was born in Hammond, Indiana and God called her to be a pastor when she was in Middle School. God continued to shape that calling through her time at MidAmerica Nazarene University and Nazarene Theological Seminary and while serving as a volunteer missionary in Paraguay.

Samuel and Lisa first started serving in ministry together while assisting with the Spanish-speaking ministry at Olathe College Church of the Nazarene. Over the course of the next five years, they started dating, got married, both completed Master of Divinity degrees and accepted their first pastoral assignment as associate pastors at Harrisonville Church of the Nazarene.

Since then they have welcomed Caleb (4 years old) and Evan (1½ years old) into their family. Caleb loves running and reading and he can incorporate numbers into just about anything. Evan loves chasing his big brother and climbing higher than you think he can go.
